Entertaining

Great for entertaining, Bishopstown features a dining room with a huge round table which can seat up to 22 people comfortably. Adjacent to it is the first of two living rooms. Taken as one complete room, it is the ideal place for dinner parties, receptions and get togethers.

Just off our large entrance hall is a drawing room which leads onto our patio area where you can relax day and night with a BBQ or a drink. The drawing room comes with a plasma flatscreen tv which features a variety of Sky TV channels.

Our recently restored courtyard offers you a myriad of entertaining and entertainment possibilities. It features a private bar and karaoke room with adjoining table tennis and pool table, 2 en-suite bedrooms and much more besides.

Country Kitchen Cooking

The traditional Georgian country kitchen at Bishopstown is a beautiful place to cook, eat, unwind and entertain in. With an Aga Range cooker (which gives 24 hour warmth), the kitchen also contains an American-style fridge, standard gas oven, microwave and more besides. The centrepiece of the kitchen is a spacious kitchen island. With ample storage, and plenty of equipment the kitchen can cater for any size of group. It leads onto a back kitchen, which features a washing machine, storage space and even a second oven.
A good kitchen is at the heart of every good home, and we like to think we have a great one at Bishopstown!

During Your Stay

We can point you in the direction of country pursuits and the house itself can be used for anything from massage to dance classes to make-up sessions. Contact us and we can send you a full list of activities for you to organise. Golf, fishing and boat trips are all a phone call away.

There is plenty to do outside of the houses, and www.discoverireland.com, www.midirelandtourism.ie, and www.westmeathtourism.ie and www.failteireland.com are all packed with information on activities, local attractions etc. The large towns of Mullingar and Athlone are both a 25 minute drive away, and they offer plenty of shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment options as well as hundreds of cultural and historical attractions. They don’t call Westmeath the Lakelands for nothing and Mullingar is ringed with dozens of pristine lakes whilst Athlone is along the majestic River Shannon so boating, fishing and swimming options are plentiful.

Both Mullingar and Athlone are hubs for sporting excellence, with Mullingar Greyhound Stadium always a popular choice for a great night out. Major GAA, Rugby and football matches are always taking place, with the best League of Ireland football teams visiting Athlone to take on Athlone Town FC, and top rugby sides coming to take on Buccaneers at their Athlone base. Several of Ireland’s best golf courses are on your doorstep, including Mullingar Golf Club, which hosts the Scratch Trophy every August Bank Holiday. Players to have won this prestigious tournament include Padraic Harrington, Darren Clarke, Rory McIllroy, Tom Craddock, Peter Townsend, Philip Walton, Garth McGimpsey and Paul McGinley.

The medium-sized country town of Moate is seven miles away in case you need extra provisions.
